How to manually create a repository

Introduction

This document explains how to install PrefixNETM without using the built-in installation procedure.

Summary

The following outlines the process:

1.       Create the repository folders structure.

2.       Set folders security.

3.       Set folders sharing.

Create the repository folders structure

  1. On the server hosting the repository, create a folder at the root, named Prefix.
  2. Under that folder, create two new folders named LT_CMD$ and LT_LOG$.
  3. Place the PrefixNETM files (Setup, RamsS, RamsC, Autoit, and all files from the downloaded package) in the LT_CMD$ folder.

Set folders security

1.       For the LT_CMD$ folder, apply the following settings:

  • Remove permission inheritance from parent and apply inheritance on child objects.
  • Remove the CREATOR OWNER permissions.
  • Grant Domain Admins and local Administrators Full Control permissions.
  • Add Everyone account with default permissions (Read & Execute).

2.       For the LT_LOG$ folder, apply the following settings:

  • Remove permission inheritance from parent and apply inheritance on child objects.
  • Remove the CREATOR OWNER permissions.
  • Grant Domain Admins and local Administrators Full Control permissions.
  • Add Everyone account with Modify permissions.

Set folders sharing

1.       For the LT_CMD$ folder, apply the following settings:

  • Share the folder as LT_CMD$.
  • Make sure that Everyone has Read permissions.
  • Add Domain Admins and local Administrators with Full Control permissions.

2.       For the LT_LOG$ folder, apply the following settings:

  • Share the folder as LT_LOG$.
  • Make sure that Everyone has Read and Change permissions.
  • Add Domain Admins and local Administrators with Full Control permissions.

Special Notices

Security permissions must be set as well as share permissions.
